Getting started
- Plug a Bluetooth LE (BLE) ELM327-compatible adapter into your car's OBD-II port and turn on the ignition.
- Mount the iPhone rigidly in portrait orientation. It must not move during the drive.
- Open FuGPS, allow Bluetooth, Location and Motion access, connect to the adapter and start a recording.
Common questions
The app can't find my OBD-II adapter
FuGPS works with Bluetooth LE adapters. "Classic" Bluetooth ELM327 adapters that need pairing in iOS Settings are not supported by iPhone apps. See supported cars for details. Make sure the ignition is on and no other app is connected to the adapter.
Why does the app need location "Always"?
So the recording keeps running when the screen locks during a drive. Location is stored only on your iPhone — see the Privacy Policy.
How do I get recordings off my phone?
Use the Share button in the Sessions list, or open the Files app → On My iPhone → FuGPS.
Some vehicle values are missing
Not every car reports every OBD-II value. Vehicle speed is the one that matters most and is supported by almost all cars from 2008 onward.
Do not interact with the app while driving. FuGPS is experimental and should not be your only means of navigation.
